Grabbed a wrench to tighten it up, and that's when it broke. Tightened too tight, and where the filter is in the carb body, the threads said later. So now it's going to take a new carb or I'll be looking for a part on the carb to replace the one that's on there now. 64' w/230, Rochester B? I think. Looks like I'll be on the phone this a.m. searching for the parts to fix the carb I have. I just replaced it last winter, and it's been doing a good job. Something will come of it all, just missed out on a good day for a ride. Let it set up good then install the fuel line. It should get you by for awhile. You can also tap out the hole to the next bigger size and adapt back down, it might save you from buying another carb. Tapping for a larger fitting was a good idea too. Otherwise they sell this stuff called "Lab Metal". It hardens up like metal and has the appearance of dull aluminum. It is workable and can be tapped for use for repair. It's an oversize fitting, self tapping, and when I go back in the a.m. I'll make sure and post the part number for all of you that may find yourself in the same situation. All I have to do is make sure and take the time to keep things good and clean when I do the install and keep the shavings out of the guts. | | |
