Hello all! My name is Mark, and I own a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup, that I bought 22 years ago. It came with a Knapheide,(spelling?), type bed, farm truck I guess. I took the sides off it immediately, and only used the truck with the sides on a couple of times... hauling some stuff. Looks tons better, (no pun intended), without them. I took off the split rims, and I bought modern steel wheels, 8 inches in back, and WIDE whitewalls all around, and Chrome baby moons. The motor, I was told is a 1957. It has the full flow oiling system, and large oil canister. Have never checked the motors serial numbers, don't know why, sounds kinda dumb to me right now, I'll have to get right on that! It runs great. Also some one had installed an air horn, with two cylindrical air storage tanks mounted underneath on each frame rail. Theres a small vacuum compressor mounted on the drivers side firewall, and has a pull cord above my left shoulder, like a big rig. Dual trumpets mounted on top of the cab on drivers side. Don't actually like them on the roof, but never removed them because of the holes I'd have to deal with. Also has running lights across the top of the cab,(5), and running lights on the sides of the flatbed rails... looked kinda cool at night though. Anyway the front end is VERY loose. I put oversize kingpins on it, but the problem is the spindles. They are worn so bad the new bushings fall right through...No press fit here. Had someone that was going to make me new bushings and machine my spindles, but the steel in the spindles is so hard that it tore up some of his equipment. I've looked for spindles with no luck, over the years. Know one seems to make remanufactured ones, that I have found. This is why its been in storage for about 20 years. I'm not gettin' any younger and I want to drive it again, don't want to subframe it, and don't have the money at present to do a independant mustang II setup. Anyway I'm gettin' typers cramp, so I'll close for now.

Mark, welcome to the Stovebolt. You'll find a lot of friends and a lot of help here. No question is to stupid to ask as we have all ask them ourselves.
Utilize the stovebolt for what it is. A friend to all stovebolters and proof that knowledge is the best resource.
Use the Swap Meet. Parts WANTED...or parts for SALE. Also ask a lot of questions. You'll find out who has trucks like yours, where parts can be found and just plain good comradiere.

One thing I better add it that we all like pictures. Shoot, you can even put one in the Gallery a long with a little history on you truck.

Welcome. Question...Why has It taken you 22years to become a 'bolter?
Joking apart, I'm quite sure you'll be able to resolve your "problem" with the axle/spindle assembly here!
Check out the swap meet section for spares.
Heck...If you can't get it sorted here I dunno know WHO can help!
As Alvin said, post some pics of your 'wee' rig!

i have his front axle in my truck, and he buys up all the old straight axles and spindles that he can find.
i bet that he would have what you need.
