It drives and runs very well but it has a rebuilt 235 chevy engine put in it by the previous owner. Is this engine basically the same as the gmc engine from the factory? If so will the valve cover from a gmc engine fit this chevy engine? I didn't like the idea of a chevy engine in my truck but overall it was too nice to pass up. Your comments please as this is the first time on this forum and I would like to hear your thoughts on my situation.

U.S. GMC trucks have a 228 engine and the valve cover will not fit. Still a fine truck. Just remember when you order engine parts that it's a Chevy. I'm not sure why the Canadian GMC's came with Chevy engines.

My '51 truck is a very nice stock pickup and glad to know the 235 engine was found in the Jimmy's and not an undesirable addition.I assume it will not affect the resale value if down the road I were to decide to sell it. Right now I am really enjoying all the high fives and thumbs up I get driving around town. It makes a perfect daily driver and I hope to keep it for a very long time.
