I know old fords had this and when owners changed the fittings and neglected to use a restriction fitting, they would lose oil pressure. I don't think fittings on my truck were original and none of them have that small hole. It would be one of the fittings on the inlet line - or so I've been told. Any help is appreciated. | | |

I've finished making my new oil lines out of 5/16" brake lines. I have all my fittings ready, including an extra go-between fitting with the restriction if I need it. If I had more time, resources and knowledge, I would just try it both ways and measure the pressure. There's a lot of you smarter and more experienced guys out there - so come on...dish out the knowledge! | | |

The restrictor would have prevented this I'll bet. I'm gonna try one on it see what happens. Couldn't hurt. These things didn't even come stock with filters. | | |

The NOS Fram Bypass Filter I got on Ebay a few months did include the restrictor. The original Fram instructions included with the filter indicated that the restrictor is to be installed on the inlet of the filter housing.
I installed the restrictor per the Fram instructions on a '54 261 in a 1950 3/4 ton Chevy and noticed a slight improvement in hot oil pressure at idle. The pressure increased from 10psi to 15psi. The stock 30 psi oil pressure gauge is always pegged whenever the engine is run above idle so am not sure what my pressure is at greater RPMs. I am running straight 30 weight in the engine. I think it was worth installing the restrictor.
