Hello fellow Bolters,
Newbie here with a recently acquired '40 Panel Ton 1/2 (WA). It picked this thing up a week and half ago at an estate sale. Kinda feel in love with it. Looked like it was headed for the scrapper and desperately needed to be saved. However, I don't think I am really in a position to deal with the right now. I thought I would inquire here about parts avalibility before I try to find it a new home.
I am looking for a few items: Gas tank, seat, and other misc bits. Below is a link to some picutres.

Emile, welcome the Stovebolt. A VERY nice place to spend time and learn about our old trucks.
I think you have a treasure and one you will be proud of many years to come.
I will make one comment about gas tanks. I'm not sure about YOUR model and a reproduction may be available but there is no "repops" for my 52. BUT I have just found out that JimCarter is currently working on a reproduction for the AD's and should be on the market around the first of the year. If one is not available for yours perhaps they will also manufacture them for your model.
Other parts are available but some you will have to look for in the Swap Meet in the Parts for Sale or Parts Wanted forum.
Good luck.
Oh, if you make a donation to the Stovebolt you will receive a 10% discount from JimCarter on all purchases and shipping charge is only the actual cost.

Hello Emile,
WOW! What a magnificent truck, you definitely bought a beauty. I may have a driver's seat frame that will fit your truck. It came from a '46 panel, are they the same? I also have a gas tank from a '46 Panel/Suburban but the 1/2 ton, does anyone know if they are the same? Good Luck with a gorgeous truck!!!!

Emile;

Great looking Panel!

Are you sure it is a 1/2 Ton? It looks a little long to me and the rims a little big. If the wheel base is in the 137" range it may be a 3/4 or 1 Ton. The vin can tell.

I believe your cab will accept a gas tank and seat from the 41 -46 era. I put a bench seat from a 1/2 ton pick up in mine and it works great. You can actually install it to get a bit more leg room than usual.

Good luck with it.

Mike

Hello,
Thank you all so much for the warm welcome, the panel is a one and half ton with 20 inch wheels. Going to try and start it to day, the motor turns over just fine and appears to be complet, oil is even clean! I will take a bunch more pics today and post them. Emile

So anyone know for sure if the Fuel tank from a 41-47 Panel is the same as a 1940 Panel? I have never seen another one so I can't say and my 40 Panel is missing the fuel tank all together. I need to order a parts book. Emile,

The gas tank in my '47 1ton panel is mounted under the bed between the frame and the runningboard. It's about 13 gallons, rectangle box. I would think you could put any tank down there. That is a handsome truck.

It looks like a good solid truck you have there. It is definitely not scrap yard material, that truck is cool! Welcome to this site.
