I'm probably doing something wrong or forgeting something but the cable wants to twist and open the choke even with the knob in all the way. And when I tighten down the choke cable to the choke lever on the carb it just pulls on the outer casing of the cable and not the wire. If you can, look at the pics and please let me know what I can do differently. Any thing you do will be inprovising. Ive never seen one hooked up like that. Usually you mount the caseing in a stationary bracket & the core pulls on the lever.

wrenchbender has it right. You need to mount the casing into a stationary mount.

Give the pictures a peak on my fliker link. Look at the carb mock up set. There is a picture of my manual choke setup.
