Has anyone purchased/ or currently own a Todd gas caddy or simular model. If so please give me your opinions on this product or a simular model like those sold by National Tool, etc.
If anyone has a negative experience with the plastic ones, I would like to hear about that as well. Thanks for your input. I want some info before I spend the $$$ on one of these.

Hank

I don't know what you mean by a gas caddy. I had a bad experience with a plastic gas can. I was draining the gas out of my Harley in preparation to remove the tanks. I was using a blitz gas can & had about three gallons of gas in it. As I put the cap on & started to tighten the cap the whole bottom of the can broke off & dumped three gallons of gas on my feet. It was a cool morning & normally I'd have had the stove running. Because I was going to be handling gas I purposely didn't light it. Good thing I didn't or I'd have been one of those "freak accidents" you hear about. I'll never buy another plastic gas can.

Hank,
I have a metal gas caddy and am glad I do ...it was full and one morning I was pulling in the shop and ran over a 3/4" bolt I didnt pay attention to laying on the floor and it shot out like rocket and dented the gas caddy but didnt puncture it.
I like the heavy gauge steel of my gas caddy not sure I would own a plastic one ...being it will live at floor level it will be in harms way from flying objects an such.
just a thought
Tim

We have a metal caddys for gasoline and Diesel both in our shop where we maintain our trucks. Our insurance requires it. However, we also have convenience stores where we sell the Blitz "Jerry cans". However, they are not recommended for fueling a vehicle. We are not sure what they are recommended for, but we sell a lot of them. Of course we sell cigarets too. I would recommend metal. I use plastic jerry cans at home for my lawn mowers, chain saws, etc. and the plastic does become brittle after a few years. I grew up around gasoline and I will be the first to admit I take too many chances with it.

I have one of the Duramax 14gal plastic cans on wheels. It is great for filling up all the yard equipment and scooter without have to lift and pour. I keep in right at the door of the garage.

54 TOW, thanks for posting the pics.....I did not realize these were that uncommon.

Thanks for the comments on both metal and the duramax unit as well. I currently use the Blitz cans that are mentioned, but really am tired of playing with them to fuel mowers, 4 wheelers, etc.

If anyone else has had any experience with either, please post up! Thanks,

Hank

No problem - Just like Denny said: "my inherent curiosity got the best of me." I also wanted to see what a gas caddy was. thumbs_up

So a gas caddy is essentially a glorified gas can??? grin

Huh, learn something new everyday!

Thanks, Jeff
