Hello Men!!,,I want to ask you guy's 3 questions.1,,what's a 327 worth????..2,,Did they have them in 63 Chev trucks(1/2 OR 3/4),,3,,when did they come out???,,I have an uncle who wants to sell me one for $350,,,the cab is shot(upper part of windsield has rust holes),cab floor is rusted through,rocker's are gone,,box is bondo up in places,,among other things,,Is he asking t :confused: :confused: :confused: oo much???,,Looking 4 reply's....

If I remember right, 327s first came out in 1962. I don't know if they were in '63 pickups, but I had a '66 with a 327.

What's the condition of the motor? If you are trying to spend minimum dollars you can get 350s for free and they are cheaper to rebuild. So if price is most important, unless he wants nearly nothing and the motor is ready to install, its probably the wrong motor.

If having a 327 is important its a different story.

It sounds like you should be charging him to haul that piece of junk away! It's possible it's got a 327, or maybe a 283, not sure if the 283 was still an option that year. Unless it's in very good running shape, I think it's way overpriced.

I agree, pass on the truck, it's good for parts at best, but only if it has some kind of rare options or something.

According to the info that Chevy Duty parts book has inside the front cover, 1966 is the first year that 327 was an option. A 327 shouldn't be hard to find, but you also can take an early 350 block (before the one piece rear main) and use a 307 crank with rods to get 327 cu. in. This may throw someone off in the future because the block casting numbers will say it is a 350.

Probably a 283............327's were introduced in CARS in '62......I don't know when they started putting them in trucks.

350's are almost free and cost the same to rebuild.........unless the engine in question is fresh........then buy for the engine, part out the rest.

Personally, I don't do business with family or close friends. If something goes south on the deal, there can be hard feelings......can make the holidays tough if it's in-laws......

I agree, unless I give something to a familly member .Thats the only exception, and if a familly member gave something to me, when I sell it ,I would give them a reasonable portion of the cash.

No way, no how. 327 from a truck not worth much. Yesterday, I picked up a 350 4 bolt long block for $10 bucks. And it's in pretty darn good shape! Unless that motor runs nice and there's other stuff you could yank and sell, you should graciously say no thanks.

Mugsy, I look at you as a lucky person. I would love to buy a 350 4 bolt main for only $10!!

They're definitely around. Just keep your eyes and ears open. I think the main reason I found this is 'cause I wasn't actually "looking". You know what I mean? If you're not looking for something or already have it, the stuff's everywhere. If you decide to start looking for something, it's nowhere to be found!
