My '48 1 ton has a stock 216, clutch and 4 speed with PTO to a hydraulic lift. I am not yet driving the truck but the engine runs and in short moves in my driveway the transmission shifts easily through all the gears. The clutch seemed to function fine. Suddenly, overnight, the clutch won't disengage and allow gear changes. No change in the pedal movement or feel, no new noises (except grinding gears). Can anyone suggest what the problem might be for a sudden fault like this? (I tried a search bur found nothing useful here).

Hy Andrew 1433, it could be that the disc is stuck to the flywheel, if you have good brakes, you could try putting it in gear with the engine not running, then start the engine while holding your foot hard on the brake pedal, that may break it free, hope that helps.

You could also, to determine if it is stuck before you try 3B's method, to remove the flywheel cover, and either hold the pedal down with a short piece of wood and a block, or have someone hold it down for you, and while the pedal is held down, see if all moves like it should. If it does, then something else may be wrong.
