For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 93 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 93 | Hello, My name is Ron and I am in Midland, Texas. I work for the Chaparral Gallery at the Petroleum Museum. ( www.petroleummuseum.org) I just bought my first stovebolt. (Ebay) A 1958 Apache swb step side. While looking on line for resources I found this website. It looks like there is a lot of good info available here. My truck has all original running gear at this time. What attracted me to this truck was the paint job. It was painted to look like an old " Indy Service Vehicle ". It was sanded to remove the gloss giving it that " farm fresh look" then the Indy identification was added then wet sanded on those surfaces. Following, was the "rusty" appliqué in all strategic locations like the " Indy " emblems on the ft. fenders, spots on rear step side fenders, interior, and right down to the tail-gate securing chains rub marks. Not all of the stains and dents are fake though. Future mods include electronic fuel injection, gear vendors overdrive, late model close ratio 3 speed transmission, A/C, AM/FM radio, cruise control, and installation of an old McCullough supercharger that I have. If I can figure out how I will post some pictures if anyone is interested. Thanks for your time. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 | TEXAS !! I was born and raised in Midland and have visited the Petroleum Museum several times. I have yet to see the Chaparrel addition. I might have to come meet you next time I visit my old man.
