Well... I searched for a decent fan shroud for the 51 https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/412108#Post412108 and I bought a nice aluminum one It's really sturdy and wasn't much more than the plastic one I found from vintage air.
Im going to polish it up nice before installing it, hopefully it will cool down to at least a 100 tonight and I'll get it done

Remember the pics pix when you're done!
Are you just using just the electric fan? My 350 water pump pulley is real close to the radiator. I might struggle to get a pump driven fan in. And that's with the short pump!
If you can keep yours cool in those temps, I should be O.K over here! grin *

Yeah, That's all Im going to run is a electric fan I had a drive fan on and it cooled it fine but in the summer (114+) when setting in traffic it would get real hot
I figured it was time to get a electric fan with a shroud and not take any chances with overheating the new motor eek

A wise decision Todd.
jockbolter, my clearance between the fan and the radiator was also too close. I was able, with a little fabrication, to move my radiator forward a few inches within the radiator support so that I could run the stock fan.

Why didn't you use a pusher fan instead?? Got mine cheap from a
recycler yard. they will run either direction just by reversing the wires. Worked out perfect in my truck. I have no fan shroud between the radiator and motor, the Pulley clearance is about 2"

Thanks guys. Guess I might go for a nose around the junkyards! I can buy a thermo switch locally.
Good luck with the shroud Todd. I doubt if I'll ever see 114 eek We're gonna be lucky to see 74 degrees over here! *

Alluminum sounds nice, and will look a lot better than the fiberglass ones. I used a fiberglass one on my 55 and it does a good job, however an alluminum one would look better.

I'm having clearance issues also. Been looking at the F&$d Taurus fan. It has two speeds, comes with the shroud and flows 4500 CFM's! It measures 22" x 16", perfect for the AD. Average cost on Ebay is around $50.
