Dont want to spend too much money on it though. Does a cherry bomb sound good? Just stock exhaust? Fenton headers with dual exhaust? Any other suggestions? Thanks | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 | Fenton's sound good, but it's costly unless you find a good deal on EBay.Use a stock exhaust with a Cherry Bomb for loud and annoying to some.Go to your local parts store and find an inexpensive open chamber muffler. Pep Boys,Advanced Auto,etc. usually have many styles in stock.You might even catch a sale.

My old 55.1 panel had a bad muffler & tail pipe when I was a lad. I was too broke to afford a muffler and pipe so I took the tail pipe off of an old buick & cut it so it slipped over the exhaust pipe on the panel, made a 90° turn and cut it where it just cleared the running board on the driver's side. It wasn't too loud and sounded cool.

It's right under the floor board and doesn't sound that bad. I'm gonna see about sticking a piece of pipe over it and putting it back together. I have a steel pack bottle behind a stock manifold, and a turnout to just forward of the fender. I can see it through my convex, and I love the sound of that six-holer in full cry!
