I sent my rearend in to get rebuilt today! Hopefully my truck will be on all fours again by the end of next month. Man, it's been a long time coming! It's a big step in the evolution of my rebuild, but a little step in the grand scheme of things. I've still got a looong, loong way to go, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm about to make my very first LMC order so I can hang the rear. I've got vacation scheduled next week, so I'll have some time to play with it. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 141 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 141 | It came in! $150 worth of parts in a 12"x12"x6" high box.......and I thought my saltwater reef tank was expensive!
I was able to get the new bushings in the rear control bars, bolted them on the frame, put the rotors and the front wheels on before the bottom fell out. Well, I can write down July the 1st as the day that my truck was released from the bonds of sawhorses and bricks. I was able to get the rearend under it today, and put my truck back on all fours. I was able to roll it about a foot! Now I have something else to pop fireworks about!

well you know the rest..I've taking Mondays lately..
after 3 straight days you need time away from it to recharge
untill the next weekend..at least that's how I feel about welding..

I'm trying my damnedest not to rush. I could have gotten it on the road alot quicker, but I only want to do this ONCE, and not fix one thing, then fix another, then fix the first thing again, so on and so forth........that's not for me. Believe me, I am chomping at the bit to drive it, but it's not how long it takes you, it's the end result that matters. Keith Well said, Keith! I've been on vacation this week. We're going to Destin tomorrow, and I wanted to get it on the ground before I left. I haven't worked too hard on it, but I am simultaneously building a stand and canopy for my new 180 gallon salt water reef tank. I just finished topping off the rearend with grease, and it's time to call it a day. Or month.....that might be when I'm able to get back to it.
