Hello all,

Looks like a few others with C50's are in Washington State, I'm in the Port Orchard area.

I just picked up a 66 C50 dump truck and am wondering if there are any parts available like seals, bearings etc.

For instance, the left rear axle seal(?) is leaking like crazy on the outer dually rim and what I believe to be the PTO is drooling fluids out all over the muffler and of course the pinion seal is leaking.

All in all it looks like the Exxon Valdeze underneath the thing and I'd like to get these vitals plugged up. Any ideas or sources for parts?

I noted some other posts that say some of the c10-c30 sheet metal may interchange?

Nice looking truck! The guys with the answers should be along shortly. In the meantime, do a search, as most of this has been covered before.

Thanks all - it's definitely a "25 footer", typical electrical maze-o-wires and with a fair "bit-o-the-northwest-rust-out"
going on...but the cab doesn't seem to want to fall off the frame and my fat butt can stand on both running boards smile

The front tires are brand new Bridgestone radials and the rear duals are "new" Goodyear rock-lug recaps - probably less than 500 miles on the entire set.

It's running a small block Chev - the previous owner claimed its out of a Corvette...I'm thinking of dropping a 454 into it that I have sitting in my garage - anyone done that before on one of these?

How about Shop manuals - I've searched ebay but nothing for this year?

Oh yeah - the steering column is rubber mounted and has considerable play (not the wheel or steering, just the column shaft) is this normal?

I did a search on this forum, but am not clear - for the rear wheels what special issues do these type of rims have? For instance I really need to fix that axel seal leak - is there any issues with simply removing the tires and wheels?

What would my options be for new rear duals in this case - 22.5's as well?

Thanks

BTW - I just ageed to buy a 66 GMC 4000 Dump on the cheap!

It happened to popup for sale, what are the odds of having 2 GM dumps of the same year within 10 miles of your house? smile

This one doesn't run - but the owner, who seems like a standup guy. Said it ran when parked, and was only parked because it was underpowered as someone took the original 6 292(?) and replaced it with a 6 232

I figure to get a hook on it and drag it home, then I'll have to figure out the best coarse - use it for parts for the C50 (sheet metal, pto, etc..) or yard the 6 cylinder out of the 4000 and drop the small block from the C50 into that - then drop a 454 I have sitting in my garage into the C50.

Then I'd potentially have 2 running dumps and could keep which ever one runs out the best.

Rambo where are you located? I am in Roy and I do have full set of 8.25X20"tires on wheels if you want or you can see what I did with my 64 it now has all 10.00X22.5s on it the wheel I got through Acuride at Les Schwab you may have to get on the Acuride site and get the P/N your self as they don’t seem to want to look it up and just say the wheel aren’t made anymore.

Heavyhauler - I'm in Port Orchard, near the Southworth Ferry - so not too far away. I might be able to use those tires and wheels though...I'll need to get the GMC towed over here to my shop next week, as I'm thiking that's the size on that truck.

I'll go poke around the Acuride site and see what I can find for the c50 - I had a bad experience with my 98 dually with the Les Schwabs in Port Orchard and won't be sending any of my hard earned money their way.
