Do any of you wiring guys know of another forum or website with good info on electrical problems in modern chevy's?
the connection on top of my fuel pump is getting HOT. After running for awhile, to restart I have to get out and "jiggle" the connection before fuel pump will work. ground is good. guage works fine. voltage is good. cleaned connectors. Diagram shows a capacitor inside the pump, think it is bad? I am very frustrated with this one, so any help will be much appreciated. thanks

I only get on the computer once a day. Yes the connector is on top of the pump\sending unit at the tank. We took the connector apart and check the pin terminals and cleaned them and replaced them in the plug. the mounted connector has 4 pins and they are fine, not bent or dirty. I am assuming the connection is now good, but you know what happens when we assume!
I cannot figure out what is causing the heat in the connector and wire. It must be resistance, but from what?

The pump may be pulling excess curent. It may have resistance under the sending unit mounting plate where the terms. & insulators go through. I would fix it immediatly. Stranded out on the road is not good & neither is flame & smoke.

Might want to check on it. The sending unit with the wires is around $230. I believe the wires and prongs on the unit are the weak link.
I just ran into a problem with mine on a '94 chevy pump. The sending unit/pump has 3 wires going in and 4 prongs on the inside. On mine the ground prong to the pump (black wire) had no continuity at the prong. The black with white stripe wire was still good. Inside the plastic gromet that goes through the top plate was screwy somehow. I took a wire connector and tied the black and the black white wires together. They both come from the same ground wire coming in (a shared ground). It also straightened out the fuel guage at the same time.
The fuel pump was about $60 and it came with a new connector (2 prong) on the fuel pump side.
