For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 7 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2008 Posts: 7 | I am going to restore a 1946 2 ton Chevy that my employer bought and we have a Kansas title for it, but it has no VIN plate on the truck and the VIN number on the title is a odd number that starts with DEA and then has a 6 digit number. I know that the DEA number is part of the engine numbers. Also what do you do for a VIN plate because I haven't looked a lot but I haven't seen a repro. Help! Thanks and GOD BLESS. It may seem a bit extreme, but depending on the hoops you have to jump through to get a title problem straightened out.. You may look back and say, "Wow, I should have bought that wreck down the road with good paperwork, sure would have been less trouble"

Back in their day, when a different engine was installed, the number which appeared on the title was stamped on the distributor boss. | | |
