Are the drag links on the AD 2-tons the same as the lighter trucks? On my 2-ton, the drag link itself looks good but the ball ends are moving a little stiff. I noticed some of the vendors do sell the drag links but they're for the lighter duty trucks and they sell drag link rebuild kits for 1 1/2-tons but it doesn't say for the 2-tons. Any opinions on what I should be doing with this thing? I'd like to replace or rebuild but if nothin's available, I may just take my medicine and clean up and reuse what I have.

Thanks,
~Ron

My Canadian parts manual has numerous listings for the drag link, and some of listings group the 1 1/2 and 2 ton together. What is the year of the truck, does the pitman arm have a forging number on it? Maybe I can narrow it down a little more.
3B also has a parts book, and maybe he has a better idea of what works and what doesn't. My guess, is that you could probably use the 1 1/2 ton drag link.

On the American Classic website, http://www.americanclassic.com/asp/...amp;iyear=1953&ytype=to&exyear=I was looking at their drag link they offer for the 1/2 ton. I called em up and asked em to take some measurements for me. Where mine measures 12 1/4" from centerline of each end, theirs measured 12 1/2". It looks exactly like mine but I'm wondering if the 1/4" difference really matters.

Bob, my truck is a 53 6400. I never had a chance last night to see what the forging number is on the pitman arm. I'll check tonight. American Classics said they have rebuild kits but I'm unsure what measurements they need to determine which one to get. Do I measure the diameter of the ball and the length? I'd hate to tear this thing apart to take these measurements unless I'm sure the parts are available.

Man...sometimes I feel like I'm in a pickle!

Thanks in advance!

The 1/4 inch wouldn't matter, but you would need to know the diameter of the rod. I think the 1/2 ton piece is too light for a 2 ton.

The 1 1/2 ton and 2 ton share the same forging number 3694921. The part will fit the 53 to 55 1st series trucks.
I'm sorry, but that is all the information I can find for you, and I have no experience with the big bolts.
