Hey guys,

I purchased a '60 235 Blue Flame Six to install in my '50 1/2 ton. What are the chances of mating this engine w/ a 700R4? Is it possible? Do the bolt patterns match up? If not, is there a kit that converts it? I know I will need a different cross member and rear diff. to accept the driveshaft....but are there any other obstacles that I may run into? thanks in advance.

You must have a throttle linkage to operate the cable. This is critical on this trans. It has to be right. You will need a cooler in the radiator or an auxiliary cooler. You will need a shifter, either a later model column or an aftermarket like Lokar.

Wrechbender, can you be a little more specefic about the "throttle linkage to operate the cable"? Pics would be nice if you have done this before.

The transmission needs to know the throttle angle to vary the transmission line pressure that is what the cable is for. The older transmissions used a vacuum modulator instead.

All the ones i've done were on v-8's with Q-jet. You are probably going to have to improvise it. An explanation is on

tv cable

throttle valve cable that is attached to the trans and the linkage on the carb. There is a couple of bowtie sites that explain it
