Rick | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 319 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 319 | Here is some info. Give him a call. Comes highly recommended from those who have dealt with him. http://www.inliners.org/buffalo/index.htm

The bellhosuing is actually a 48-53 bellhousing that has had a plate welded to it for the brake and clutch pedals. The adapter plate is used when using the original bellhousing on deco and prewar trucks. There is a Tech tip page, written by John Sandoval, which shows one conversion. Cavebull also did another conversion. Both are well doccumented on this site with photos.

He wouldn't know me from Adam, but I've spent enough time talking with him to believe he has a real good understanding of the issues in various transmission swaps.
He works out of a back yard shop and I believe is a one man operation. That means he might be a little hard to catch, but well worth the trouble.

I have a nasty growl comming from the tranny area on deceleration. I have been told sounds like a rear end problem with the sound traveling up the torque tube. I'm going to change out the rear end to a late 70's truck axle with a 3.55. Eventually put a 350 up front but with the news of an adapter, I can get a 5 speed up to the 216 and drive it for now. | | |
