I ordered a adapter from classic parts and Corvette style master cylinder from Southern car Parts. The end where the push rod goes in is shallow. Classic parts requires it to be one inch deep so the rod doesn't fall out. Can't seem to find a replacement master cylinder locally with the deep indent. Anybody have experience or suggestions for what model or casting number I need?

Why not get it all at the same place? I got mine from Classic Performance Products. http://www.classicperform.com/Store/1947_59_Trucks/4754BBD.htm

Take a magnet and see if that indentation is steel or aluminum. If it's steel, pop the snap ring off and remove the plate and see if the indentation goes in further. Alot of masters fit different applications, some needing different depth indentations. So, they rebuild them with the same parts and cover the deep hole when a shallow is needed, sometimes,
