For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 70 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 70 | Okay... The engine swap is done and I drove her today! The 305 purrs and I'm super happy with the upgrade. I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can use my orginal temp gauge with the new engine. The little line from the water temp sensor (brass with either in it?) is too short to reach the front of my intake where the insert is. I think the old sensor is too long to fit anyway, but my gauge works and I'd like to keep the original gauges in there.
Any ideas? I put in the voltage step downs for my electric gauges so everything is working except for this one. I'm willing to swap out my temp gauge with another similar (original style) to the original that will work. So far the only solution I've hear is "buy a set of aftermarket gauges." That is not what I'm looking to do. I'd like to stick with the "all original" look with the v8 sound.

"The long capillary tube temp guages are a little pricey but you can grind a flat spot on the left rear water runner on your intake, drill, tap, and screw in a temp bulb fitting. You can see a picture of this at http://www.msnusers.com/Evanscars Click on "pictures" and then go to page 2 and it is picture S10-054." The link doesn't appear to work anymore. This trick was done on a 350 Chevy engine. Stuart
