| | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | I just purchased a new Hypertherm Powermax-30 plasma torch. The instructions say to use a shade #8 face shield. I researched this and lots of other sites mention using a #6 shade.
The #6 face shields are easy to come by...not so with the #8's. I have never used a plasma rig before. What do real world operators use. This is a 30 amp unit.
My kids have used a plasma rig and say that the darker shades make it difficult to see what you're doing.
