hello to all
here is a old 5 window GMC 5 ton series 640 will be heading in the shredder,HAS 2 large hoods that opens from the sides, IT has a VERY LARGE 6 cylinder eNGINE with 2 carburetors and large Exhauat manifold about4 inches thick, Has air brakes
Complete drivetrain, CAB is junk. it is in a old salvage yard which will be cleared out THere are other large heavy trucks also
I dont know nothing about the condition of motor or trans just fact it has been sitting for long time
thanks
Also about 1957 Gmc Cabover large series, will be crushed shortly dont know nothing of it,just in the woods,
Also have old early 50,s CHEVY 4 door cab on a logging crane,it is like to cabs welded together on backsides, but it is manufactured that way and has 2 control panels to operate the 2 cranes,Selling only sheet metal, decent body, crane will be going in shredder.

More than likely a 640 series. No such thing, as a 460 series. There was a 400, 450, & 470. 520-650 series, had the hoods like you describe.

Hello
It does not look like 660 series, this truck is not a Cabover,IT appears to be a large Rig as it has Air brakes.
I will be there today ad will take some pictures. along with some others. The whole yard will be crushed out. As scrap metal is high,
thanks

Are you sure it's not a V-12? The only 2-carb GMC's I can remember were the 502 cubic inch 12-cylinders, IMHO.

OOPS! I just noticed the year! Those big inline 6's were used in the road tractors in the late 40's and early 50's. My uncle owned one that he used towing the big boats he repaired, with a lowboy trailer. Nothing much will interchange between them and the 216/235 engines.

ranchojuan, I have a '51 640 and need a lower right hand engine cover, the one just under the folding hood. Are you willing to wrench one off and I'll pay. Need to see some pictures. Rick
