I've been driving it for the past couple weeks, and it's been great. The only issue I've had on the road has been a sitcking vacuum advance unit which was throwing the idle settings off and causing the truck to die when I came to stop signs. We've had to play with the shift linkage a little, but new bushings helped tremendously. The truck is back to work, having hauled all kinds of stuff already ranging from plywood to car parts to duck food! Come for a ride in the video below and hear it run! I definately need a radio and I'm still finding air leaks. A part of the 12 volt conversion we weren't thinking about was the heater and defoster motors being 6 volt still so I have to replace those, but it is becoming spring time so I am not in such a hurry to fix those kinds of things.
I really enjoy driving the truck and really appreciate all your kinds words and help along the way.

Your truck is beautiful as well! The little guy on your shifter cracked me up. I imagine that is the face my trans makes when I shift.
Is that an aftermarket gauge panel in your dash? Who makes that, it looks really cool.
The wrench door handle is a nice touch too!

No such thing as overboard with any automobile, to be honest, I really enjoy driving the truck in its true original state, but I can see before to long a newer engine and trans will be in the works. I am a major speed demon and going between 50 and 55 right now is fun while I learn the truck, but soon, I'm gonna be craving my usual 80-90 mph.

i think the dash is made by VDO. dont hold me to that.
i like the look of the shifter knob also, thanks. i like things a little different.
the door handles i thought of this past weekend. ithe one that were on the truck when i bought it were starting to strip out, so i bought new ones, which were made in china, and were worse than the old ones on the truck !!
so i sent them back to get my money back.
i sent this site a tech article i wrote about how i fabricated them, and hopefully they will post it soo.
