I have a rusted out eye brow on the 59 Chevy truck that I'm planning on replacing with a good donnor cab top. How big of a job is this and what should one expect to pay to have this done.

if you're paying to get the work done, it'd be cheaper to find a complete cab in better condition, it's not a simple job and will be pretty spendy .... if you can find someone willing who's also capable

I will let you know in a couple more months. I have a 57 with the same problem. I bought a used roof cut through the windshield posts & around the back window. The eyebrow has a spot welded seam close to the outer edge. I am going to drill out the spot welds & replace just the underside of the eyebrow along with the inner roof header. Its not a small job however you do it. If i paid to have it done around here it would probably cost about $750 including a used roof & labor. No painting. I think I paid about $180 for the roof and I used to be a bodyman so I can do the work myself.

Go For It!!!
I brought my grandparents 64 home after it had sat in a field for over 20 years. Found a donor truck, took the sawzall to both of them, and made a new truck out of the two. I'm no bodyman or expert in any sense of the word, but you'll have a hard time finding where I made the cuts and did the welds. These old trucks are so forgiving in every aspect of how they are built, and the end result of caring, attentive, restoration or rebuilding one of them, is amazing. The time and money I've invested in getting my old truck back on the road has been the best "Therapy" I could have hoped for since my accident. Just roll up your sleeves and Go For It. There are so many people around this site that have the same affliction for old iron as yourself, you'll not run into any project in the rebuild that can't be worked through with the help from all of those people. When you're done, you'll be riding in something that most folks can only wish for. Something that has some "soul". Good luck and ask LOT of questions.
