It's a bit hard to see what's down there, since this is my Grandpa's 62 and it's covered in Chicken Chit :-) But, it feels like there are either 2 broken bolts or the bolts come from the other side (which seems to be inside the pan?)
62 1/2 Ton Stepside, 3 on the tree and 235 I6 Grandpa gave it to me, it is straight and original with about 90K original miles..

I think this thing may have slipped a tooth on the timing gear. I had it running pretty good, then I killed it one day at a stop sign when engaging the clutch. It never ran right since. I know it's getting fuel and fire (massive backfires), and I've tried every tooth on the ditributor gear. I think it's down to the timing gear, whaddaya think?

Some one else will chime in and tell you how to convert the bolt holes, so you won't have to pull the oil pan the next time you need to pull the timing cover. | | |

Drill out threads on timing chain cover and tap to the next size larger bolt in the cap to receive the bolts from the outside in, won't have to pull the pan if there is a next time. Zeke
