Hey guys, What is the best way to remove spray paint from my plastic dash insert without damaging the plastic/original color underneath? I spray painted the dash of my el camino 15 years ago, now I want to remove my teen age handy work.

If it wasn't paint formulated to stick to plastic you might be able to warm it with a hair dryer and get it to loosen up. There are some "green" paint strippers that might be tame enough to strip the paint without harming the plastic. It should say on the label.

Here is a trick that we use in the paint industry, as horrid as it sounds.

Easy Off (blue can) will remove paint without hazing or scaring plastic.
We use it on signs, plexiglass, etc with no problem. I can not say exactly what your dash is made of, but if you can find a hidden spot to test it out, it may be your solution. Just remember that it will remove paint from any metal as well.
