Are the pickup cabs on these years the same as the bigger-like 50 or 60 series cabs ? I know that the fenders are different.

The cabs are the same size. However, the 47's and 48's are different in that they had gas tanks under the bed instead of inside the cab, so there won't be a hole for the filler neck in the cab.

The 47 and 48 beltlines and firewalls are a tad different too. Not enough that they can't be made to work though,

Yes, cabs are the same from 1/2 ton up to 2 ton Chevy, and up to about 3 ton GMC, with the exception of COE cabs.

There are minor differences between years, to do with cowl side vents, cab mounting, seat adjuster, and probably a few other things.

Rear cab mounts on 47 and 48 are different than 50-53. One center mount on the early ones, and two mounts one on each side of the frame on the later ones.
With the right parts they can be interchangeable, probably best to use the mount style on the cab in question.

I have a GMC 5 window dump sitting over this way at a yard, and I just don't want to see it crushed, so I guess I'll just have to go buy it.
