i found on the stovebolt store that i can buy a 1 BBL to 2 BBL carburetor adapter. has anyone ever tried this with the holly/webber or carter/webber carburetor? the adapter is only $15 and i didnt know if it worked well or not. also has anyone ever used a 2 bbl holly/webber or carter/webber carburetor? i have a 1954 1/2 ton with a 235 straight six with split headers. any help would be great! thanks

I think Clifford sells a 2 bbl water heated intake. It's pricey though. Somewhere between $275-$300 as I recall.
I think you may be wasting your money on the adapter and 2 bbl. Like Fred said in your other post, the airflow with the stock intake and adapter won't be any good. I can't say for sure as I never tried it. I did try several variations of Rochester 2G's on my Offenhauser 4 bbl intake. Used an adapter. I tried and tried to get things to run right but, always had the same result: CRAP! I installed a small Holley 4 bbl (450cfm) and it's been good.
If you're not in hurry, my advice is buy a new intake and then keep an eye out for a used 390cfm Holley 4 bbl. Buy a rebuild kit. Fabricate some linkage (which you'd have to do even if you went with a 2 bbl) and you're off.

mugsy - where did you find the intake manifold for a 4 bar.carb that will fit a 235?

I used a 1 to 2bbl adapter on a 235. I used a carter 2bbl from a 73 dodge 318. It worked great. I can post a picture if you need it.

Clifford's intake manifold works with either 2 or 4bbl carbs or fuel injection, depending on which top plate you buy for it. They also sell a triple sidedraft manifold. http://www.cliffordperformance.com

Mine is a 292. Clifford makes a 4 bbl intake for 235. And I thought Patricks had one, could be wrong about that. I've seen Clifford intakes sell on ebay for $150-$200.
When I said "buy a new intake" in the above post, I meant buy a different/aftermarket intake, new or used.

It was a marked improvement. I'm sure it's not as much as a 4brl would be. Here is a pic of the set-up I used. It's under truck stuff.
