guys, did these trucks have cab lights like dome lights inside there cabs??? did they offer radio in these years???

Not sure about the cab light - my 3/4 ton doesn't have any wiring for this.

No cab light to be best of my knowledge, but an under-the-dash bulb spilled light out into the cab below the dash. Not sure if this was really by design or just be happenstance of the dash bulbs and mountings.

Now, what would you need a cab light for? There are only about 5 controls in the whole truck, and you can reach both sides without stretching!

Seriously, there's a "hidden" 3-pole switch under the dash in about the middle which turns on a "courtesy light" over the ignition switch when switched one way, or the instrument lights when switched the other. I reckon you could jumper one pole to the other, so that both came on always. . .

My firetruck has a search light you can point into the truck - now THAT'S a cab light!

There was an accessory cab light offered for the GMCs not sure about the chebby. I have never seen a picture, and there is only a part number listed in the accessory catalogue. I believe the panel trucks and suburbans came standard with a dome lamp, but I am not sure if it is the same. It also may have been an option for them.

Some other accessories that were available were armrests, visors (interior and exterior), right side windshield wiper, right side tail light, and right side rear view mirror.

Seatbelts were not an option or factory accessory, and as far as I could tell, neither was an interior rear view mirror.

My ’41 Chevy has a light right behind the dash between the choke and throttle. This light puts some light into the cab and is controlled by a 3 way switch mounted under the dash. The switch allows you to have all of the dash lights off, or the ones that illuminate the instruments on, or the one near the choke / throttle on. The owner’s manual explains this on page 9

Kip can you send me a pic of that light switch or explain where under the dash.

Chevy did offer an accessory 6v radio for the 41 and 42-46 trucks. They were installed under the dash to the left of the steering column. 41 had a shiny pot metal face and used tuning knobs...42-46 had a brown bakelite face and had vertical turning thumb-knob controls. They regularly come up on ebay.
Take a look at ebay item#140209954109 ...it's that 3 pole courtesy light switch mentioned above...in my experience these switches are rather fragile, they are difficult to find and no accurate repos are available.

Kip, the accessory light I was referring to is in addition to the dash/ map light, which was standard. From what I can tell it was a dome lamp mounted in the headliner, or above the rear glass. Not sure as I have never seen one or the installation instructions.

I understand. I can’t remember ever having seen any literature on such a light either. However my trucks PO(s) must have needed a light in that location as there were at least 4 holes up there all in slightly different locations..
