They are not quite as rare as a 44, but it was wartime production for most of the year. Half tons are just to light for war, So I will answer yes to your question. I couldn't tell you actual production numbers. If you post a serial number, I am sure someone can decode it. I may be wrong, but I thought all wartime production was registered as a 42 model year.

I agree with bigbadswingdaddy on the 42 year for all. The title might be dated as the year the truck was titled.

even before world war 2 ended , chevrolet was back selling pick-ups to farmers and tradesman who'd worn out their working wheels. because of the acute shortage of commercial vehicles that had developed by 1944 , the government permitted chevy to start offering a small line of trucks beginning in 1945.
the start date after the war was september 1 , 1945. but most of them was titled as 1946.
in late 1945 , a unied auto workers strike closed nearly all gm factories. the walkout lasted until march 13 , 1946 and wildcat actions kept some plants fronm hitting full stride for up to sixty days longer. also the ran out of grinding wheels so you can still see the welds on some 1945 and some 1946 chevy trucks.because the could not get enough grinding wheels to clean them up.

during 1942 painted { blackout} trim was adopted , and a number of other changes were made in chevrolet trucks . nearly all trucks sold in 1944 and the early 1945-1946 interim model came with the trim painted. most were finished in tuuret grey although white , cream , yellow and orange trucks werealso made and had their grilles painted the same color as the body.

bk jan. 1 , 1944 -aug.31 , 1945 ck , cl sept. 1 1945 - sept . 1 , 1946 , dp , dr may 1 1946 - may 31 , 1947

production numbers 1941 321,804 , 1942 119,077 , 1945 94,634 , 1946 270,140 , 1947 335,343 . thanks
