| | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 121 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 121 | well i have been hard at work on the frame of my 53chev 3100. i have made a frame jig and cut boxing plates for the front half and tacked them in.my need is should i box the back half of the frame? it is not going to be a show truck it will have mild power 400 horse or there about.i am going to build a cross member to mount the shocks from and build a k member from that to the cross member under the cab. what would you guys do?

I'm running close to 400hp in my 37 and its lighter than the AD chassis. No problems and believe me I do "air it out" sometimes. Would boxing the frame be stiffer than a lighter weight option, such as "X-ing" the frame with tubing?

| | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 121 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 121 | houston54 i boxed the front with plans on boxing the rear. but i cut my last peice of plate steel up for the rear peices but i f@#$%& up and they didnot fit. i was thinking with just boxing the arches and making a shock cross member and a k member to the midle cross member would be fine but your commit about metal fatigue got me thinkn.but achipmunk said that he has had no problems omn his 37. also has me thinking wich is what i wanted you guys to do so i make the right choice. thank you all
