V-8 or 6 it advances the spark. I always go by which way the vacuum advance points. If it pops on deceleration it may have the idle mixture too lean or va vacuum leak. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. You turn the distributor CCW for advance. The rotor turns clockwise. To get the #1 plug tower to the rotor earlier, you must rotate against the direction of rotation....counter-clockwise. This advances the timing..makes the plug fire earlier! Make sense?

Sounds like a lean mixture to me which as he states can be a leaking intake manifold or carb base. A good place to start at least. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 | Thanks for the help and T/C Steve | | |
