I'm pulling the motor out of our '49 6400. I have two bolts on a rear cross member that I cannot seem to get out. Does anyone know if there is some trick to getting to the top of these bolts? When I spin the nut on the bottom, the bolt just turns. I cannot see or feel the top of the bolt, it seems to be buried in the top of the rubber motor mount somewhere. Everything else is ready to go. Unless I come up with a better plan, the torch comes out tomorrow and I'm gonna cut those things out! Any other suggestions?

You should be able to find the top end of those bolts on top of the ears on the bellhousing. I've always been able to get them out with a little work.

Sometimes you have to jack the engine up a little. The rubber is all walered out & is covering the bolt head or nut.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

The bolts look to be just a couple of inches long, and seem to die inside the rubber.

I don't know if they are any different from the ones on my 56 but they go through the rubber block and thread into the bell housing and the same for my 71.

I got them, thanks. The bolt heads were buried in the rubber under 50 years of accumulated grime and road stuff.

The motor is out!.

Thanks for the help.
