I want to put it in my '65 Chevy C10 .I tried to pull up the www.inliners.org site as I know they have a t5 page that lists all the tranny's ID numbers , but I couldn't get it to come up ? I have a copy of the list somewhere but I don't know exactly where it is at this moment ? Can anyone tell me if this is the same tranny as an S10 ? Also , is it the one with the integral bellhousing or separate bellhousing ? I need the separate b/housing . All help will be appreciated .

I would think that it would be more like a Ranger tranny. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | There are some Isuzu transmissions listed on the print out of T-5 transmissions. A quick check of the tag number on the transmission against the list would show if it is a T-5 or not. It is possible it could be a T-5.

I believe that was Mazda. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | Even if it is a T-5, it will probably not interchange with the Chev. unless the Isuzu had a Chev. engine. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Every Rodeo I've ever seen had an Isuzu engine in it, and a freind of mine that built them never saw any GM engines in the plant, either. They also all used Aisin rearends.

But they were cozy in 82. I would be intrested to know the verdict. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | GM and Isuzu worked together since at least '72, when the LUV came out. Isuzu did provide 4 cylinder engines for the early S10s, in both gas and Deisel. I seem to recall that Isuzu did build CKD Chevrolets and Buicks in Japan since sometime in the mid-20s.

I am talking Troopers (SUV's), not pickups. They were badged with a "V6" badge on the back right-hand side of the doors. This may have started in 89, but somewhere in there they had the GM V6's for several years until they restyled the Trooper and Isuzu made or sourced a DOHC V6 for them.
Whether or not the transmissions and engines all had a Chevy bolt-pattern, I have no idea, but I do know they had the GM 2.8 motors for several years.
Oh, GM and Isuzu are still cozy as the original Duramax diesel in GM's heavy duty trucks is an Isuzu designed motor. I think Isuzu may have produced the motors when they first came out, but I don't know if that is still true.

Later GM came out with a 3.4 rear wheel drive engine as a replacement. You could put them in Rodeos or early Jeep Cherokee. He had the newer 3.4 installed and it ran like a scaulded hound. You can still buy that engine from Chevrolet. It has 40 more hp and way more torque than the ole' 2.8. They were mainly for carb engines but they told me at the dealer that a cam swap would make it much better for TBI. Otherwise you would have a bit of hesitation when you first take off. Aside from that they ran really well. Almost bought one. His was an automatic and the others were stick except for one. Later they put in their own Isuzu engines in them. The 3.4 rear wheel drive was better than the Isuzu engine. Just some info. Plus all you need would be a set up from a Rodeo or Trooper that had the V6 emblem and had the GM engines in them. | | |
