well guys i started going through all the rockers and found the one with the bad push rod and frozen valve now has a crack on the rocker....went to push it down and it broke off in my hand......unreal........anyone know where i can pick up a rocker to replace it..........i really dont want to put 1,500 bucks in the engine........so now i have a 1941 216 engine with a frozen valve.....bent pushrod and broken rocker on #4 intake....whats next

well i found one..........through Kanter 18 bucks each....well that nasty valve still stuck............looks like im going to have to pull the head.........i will give it one more day of soaking.........then i will open up the can of worms

i feel your pain brother i have a 235 that i just wanted to get running when i pulled the head i found that it needs boring the parts and machine work is going to run 900.00

It's not that bad. It's pretty simple in fact. Besides Kanter you can get engine parts about everywhere. You might try your FLAPS before you order from an outside vendor. The family of engine is still common due to the number of old farm trucks using them. I often find engine parts locally and much cheaper through my FLAPS. Your FLAPS will often have a valve spring compressor for loan to their customers as well. At least mine does. I'd recommend going to an established FLAPS over an Autozone or other franchize operation. You're more likely to find someone who knows the parts and is willing to work with you in finding the part you need.

Have you tried tapping the valve with a sledge softly while hosing it down with wd40 or your choice of lubricants??? Talking dirty to it might help also. That freed up a few of my valves. I bet if you post an ad in the swapmeet section you could very easily find a rocker arm or 2 for dirt cheap. I have several sets around here...

i like your thoughts jeff.......heck i may pour some vodka on the valve to get it drunk.........lololol.........then after i get it unstuck buy it some flowers........my problem is if i go to the extreme of pulling the head and going through it all i might as well pull the engine.....dip it......rebuild it and paint it the original grey........on one hand i would like to just get it running so i can move it around.........and on the other hand i might as well go to the next phase and start the restoration "bed off...cab off...frame off restoration"

While you're at it, warm up the valve stem a little with a propane torch. Heat, spray some Kroil, tap with a hammer while it's hot. Don't get ridiculous about it, but getting the stem hot to the touch will help the mouse milk penetrate down the stem. Since you've got to pull the rocker arm assembly anyway to replace the broken one, putting a little heat on the valve will be a lot simpler with nothing in the way to deflect the torch flame. I've freed up a lot of stuff with the "hot wrench" over the years!
