I plan to use POR15 on the frame and inner fenders of a 51 1T A
How much will I need?

You don't have to put it on thick! With that said ...if it flows good as you put it on you should get two coats. I have been getting two coats on a chssis out of a quart can. With the inner fenders it will probably be close!

i hand brushed my frame and inner fenders (2 coats on the inners). i have a daily driver (soon), and don't really care to spend big bucks on a pretty frame. also did the rad bracket, lots of small bits, bottoms of fender apron and running boards, front end, clutch and brake arms & tow hitch.

How much did you use?

wallybody: PLEASE listen to what CarolinesTruck said. IF you spray it be sure to wear the BEST respirator you can get. The POR15 is some good stuff for sure but will coat your lungs like an iron kettle. Even brushing it on it would be wise to wear some sort of mask.
Also be sure to wear some VERY OLD clothing.This stuff is tough and is hard to get off...I usually just let it wear off in about 3 weeks!

Don't forget some gloves! And yes. 100% true about the respirator, especially if you spray. I know about that one firsthand. It's not pleasant at all.

I agree with brushing, this stuff goes on really thin but it dries vary thick and vary solid. I asked the sale person how much I would need for my truck frame and he said a quart should do the whole thing with two coats. One thing to know,,, When you open the can it is real hard to re seal it after use. I waisted a bit of whatI had because of that so I think it is best to have everything prepped and ready to paint it all at once if possible.

Ed: even instructions on the can say to put some "saran" wrap over the can when closing. I usually on pour out small amounts at a time as it will start to "set" while you are painting it on and then you use more. It wlll also smooth or level out better if what you are brushing on is "fresh".
I like the stuff and agree with you in that I like to brush it on.
I have stored it for some time and it still be good. My freind stored it for almost a year and its was still good. I do suggest keeping it in a cool dry place and then "warming" it up by letting it sit in the house overnight.

As a footnote: I've mentioned before that I read somewhere that it is good to "blow into the can" of paint ect which replaces the oxygen in the can with the carbon monoxide from your breath which helps keep paint and stuff from drying out. I can't swear by it but I have always done it with paint, varnishes, ect ect and then open it up after long periods of time and it still be good.....so maybe it does at least help?!

I high pressured sprayed the entire frame a dozen times before i painted. that was after I used dozens of cans of easy-off oven cleaner and wire brushed the frame ..... everywhere. I can't remember how much I used but if I needed more I'd just go to the store and buy more. i hand painted lots of little things. if you recoat you MUST scotchbrite/sand BEFORE you second coat. I used gloss on most of my bits and frame. the front end was dull black. I used cheap brushes 1'' & 2'' wide, some might not do that but I'm not cleaning good brushes w/ por-15 on them. just pick out the lost bristles or leave them. you really don't see them any way. make SURE what you paint is hidden from the sun as POR15 does NOT like sun and it will turn milky gray on you.

POR-15 is different from the traditional enamels, according to thier website it is a moisture cured urethane. Since your breath has a higher moisture content than the ambient air, blowing into a POR-15 can would accelerate it's cure.
