I ordered this custom tank from alumiworx. Dave the owner was supposed to have included a sending unit with the tank. When I got the tank it had no hole for a sending unit. It did have 3 1" OD holes (fuel outlet, fuel return, and vent) and one 3" hole for fuel intake. Any suggestions on how to proceed here? Do I need to have a machine shop make a hole for the sending unit? Where do I get a sending unit that will work for this size tank? Any help will be appreciated.

Here are two links to universal senders. They will work with any size tank. The instructions tell how to size them for your tank size. I am using one and it works just fine. Joe

you should be able to put the hole in the tank yourself. Make sure the location will not be in the way any thing in the tank. The hardest thing to see from the outside is the baffles. I had to cut a hole in a stainless tank for a fuel pump. I used a plasma cutter. Good luck!

Be sure the float is pointing the right way, not sure which is right, but I bet it matters. I know the senders have screw holes offset so they only go one way. I would think the float should go side ways (fender to fender) instead of front to rear (bumper to bumper). I guess it really depends on the baffles in the tank. Joe

I don't know if this will help you or not but I had a custom stainless steel tank made. I had to put the sender and lines in myself, rather I had them welded in and I just drilled and tapped the screw holes for them. The only thing you really have to worry about is that the ohm rating on the sender and the guage must match for them to work properly, heres a pic of my set up.

I reviewed your order sheet and all of my notes on your custom tank. at no time was there ever a discussion or an agreement to supply your fuel sending unit. You also were never charged for the addition of a sending unit to your order. which is why there was never a hole cut in your tank.

I would like you to be pleased with my product and walk away from this a happy customer. Please contact me so that we can straighten this out in a professional manner.

I am not clear on how our conversation became so confused with me believing I would be getting a tank complete with a sending unit, and you believing I was not getting a sending unit. The situation as it stands now is this; I will be buying a set of gauges that will come with a sending unit. That way the ohms will match up and I will cut my own hole for the sending unit. Case closed.
