I've looked at 4 companies who insure classic vehicles and all require the person on the policy to be at least 25 years old or have at least 10 years driving experience. I don't think my time driving go-carts and 4 wheelers will count. Anyone know of a company that will insure someone under 25?

edit: I'd like to do one of those declared value deals. My regular policy would treat my truck like a 50 year old vehicle and pay next to nothing if it were totaled or stolen.

Looks like Haggerty will work, although the quote is much higher than anyone else. Grundy is a maybe. A few of the websites are not working for me.

I am still 25, and have had no problems the last few years with my old vehicles on my regular Nationwide policy with my newer car.

Previously I was on my parent's policy listed as the primary and only driver for my 52 Chevy, regular inspection and plates, not antique, and insurance was less than $200 a year.
Liability only, if I wreck the truck it's then my wreck.

If you have a daily driver that's already insured, you could add a rider policy for the old one. I pay my premiums depending on the value I set on the truck. I pay like $30 every 6 months per truck. That's cheaper than the full coverage on my Impala,

I have full coverage on mine, same policy as my '85 Blazer. All I had to do was get an aparaised value (easy enough, my unlcle is in the used car business), and that is used as the agreed value for the truck. This is a regular policy, no mileage limits, "have to have a regular transport vehicle", only drive certain times of the year, or any of that other stuff the specialty insurers make you go through. I meant those companies might be fine if you have something like a 427 'Vette or a Hemi car that never gets driven other than to shows, but I like to drive mine, so normal insurance is a must. I also have regular plates on it, as the Antique plates in Illinois does limit you on mileage and driving.

Yes, the antique plates here in VA are supposed to limit driving too, but this year I drove around the country (8,000 miles) with VA antique plates on one truck I had, not a single question.. It was almost legit, as I was hopping from truck show to truck show, but many thousands of miles more than they allow.

My round the country trip before that (different truck) I did get regular plates and an inspection sticker for the trip.

Now that I think of it, I have even driven a truck from CA to VA with no plates, again, not a question. I did have a plan if stopped, I could buy a one way trip permit form the DMV website, and print it. (buying it ahead of time would not have allowed enough time to get home before it expired)

I guess that the kind of plates really is not that important, although probably not a good idea to push your luck.

There is an insurance company in FL that is supposed to be decent for old trucks, they advertise in Wheels Of Time, I'll try to find their name, but I'm thinking "gulf" something or another?

This company just announced yesterday they are getting into the classic vehicle insurance business, they have no mileage limitations according to the article. I don't know anything about how they underwrite, but being new, perhaps their underwriting may be more liberal.
Note: I have no first hand knowledge or vested interest in the company.

Call my regular insurance co. back and they don't do any type of agreed value for vehicles. Hagerty, Sneed and another company will take me. Just need to call for a few more quotes. Thanks for the info everyone.

I use Continental Western for my 38. It's been a while since I was 25 so I don't know about age restrictions.

Although I am a way past 25,I insure my old trucks thru my regular insurance co.Restrictions?yes,but nobody cks up on you.Supposed to be for car show and parade use,and I go to a lot of car shows.During the winter I only carry fire and theft on them,cause they atre stored in the shop.

Don't know any thing about them except several members of the ATHS seem to use them. I think they are geared toward the larger trucks such as semi-s. There is no mileage restriction.

After looking into what seemed like every company under the sun, ended up going with Safeco. The coverages are almost identical to what I have on my daily driver truck and was able to do the declared value. Under $100/6 mo. Good deal to me.
