I've seen mention here before about a Clark 5spd tranny. Does the code for the 5spd happen to be Clark 5DD on the ID plate attached to the glove box?

Yep, You'll see a "GMC Service Parts Idetification Plate". attached to the back of any '47-'55 400 series, & larger GMC Truck glove box lid. Stamped to the right of this plate will be, Trans. Make: Clark, Type: 205V, or 207V, Speed 5DD. If it's a overdrive, it may say, Type: 207VO, Speed: 5OD. Got any pictures of your trucks posted anywhere.

Yeah, it occurred to me this morning that the "DD" probably stood for direct drive. But a 5 spd might be a step up from just the 4. I'll have to look again for the 205 or 207 designation. What's the diff between them anyway?

No, I haven't gotten any pictures yet. I had some developed and placed on a CD rom. Would I be able use those to post somewhere?

There was also a Clark model 202 DD, & OD transmission, availble, for these trucks.. The 202, 205, & 207 differed in design, & gear arrangement. You can transfer your pictures, from your computer, to a webshots, or photobucket album. www.webshots.com , & www.photobucket.com .

Thanks for the info Spanky! I'll try to get the pictures somewhere this weekend. That is if we don't get any more wind tearing roofs off I have to go patch. Sweeping snow off a 9 in 12 pitch roof and still having to wear spikes is not what I had envisioned doing when I grew up!

I used to have a 49 3600, it had a later 235 in it and someone had installed a Clark 5spd behind it. I never drove this truck, I'd traded a 22magnum rifle for it, but never got time to get it running. Young and dumb I suppose, I let it go for cheap.

I was looking for something else and found this Roadranger site that has lots of info on the Clark transmissions.
I know nothing more about it..
