I don't have enough experience! Does a 1929-30 Chevrolet 1-1/2 ton truck have an open drive line or is it enclosed? If this model has an enclosed drive line, will a late 40's pick-up truck 4 speed fit to the drive shaft housing? Another question, what is the wheel track of a 1937-40 1-1/2 ton with dual rear wheels? How does that measurement compare to the 1929 Chevrolet with single disk wheels? Please share your experience if you can.
Thanks,
Alan

Enclosed drive shaft. 4 speed will not fit. The 37 distance between center line of spring from side to side is 42". Tread width on the 37 tire center line is 58 & 17/32 in. and the dual wheel outer is 73 & 3/8 in. If you want to do this just to install dual wheels if you use a 1930 trans. and rear end that was the first year Chevrolet offered dual wheels and all the parts will fit a 1929.

Thanks for your reply. I am guessing that the 1930 4 speed and rear end with duals, are of the open drive shaft version? Does anyone have the remains of a 1930 1-1/2 ton laying around?
Thanks, Alan

Al, That is still a enclosed driveline. I have a '31 tow truck with duals and it is closed.
