I am planning to take out an original Chevy 216 (1937) from a
Chevy master car with the 3 speed in the floor and I want to install a Chevy 235 (1955?)motor to the original 1937 3 speed.Can this be done? The numbers from my 235 dates it from a 1955 to 1958 block and its mounted up to the floor shifter from my 1948 pickup tork tube tranny. I have talked my Dad into putting this into his car as long as its not to much trouble. The 'ol 216 blowed a head gasket so instead of fixing that, were gonna replace it with a newer 6 banger.

You'll need to swap the bellhousing, starter, and front plate to the 235, and source a '41-'54 flywheel to make it work. There's also a few small things, like an adapter fitting for the temp sender, and some minor alterations to the throttle linkage and exhaust pipe to make it fit perfectly.

They both (my 48 pickup and my Dads 37)have floor starters, so we should have enough parts to make it work.
