Hi all I am in a slite money crunch, I have to have an accurate value of all of my property- what would it sell for. I know what I think its worth but I need other opinions honet ones not inflated. I have already restored two trucks and I know what they sold for. I need to know the value of a 1952 1/2 ton chevrolet 5 window as is. It has been disassembled cab needs floor work and radio dash work,other wise cab is great, cab corners fine all fenders and bed sides just cosmetic work and paint truck needs total restoration and put back together.
I also have a parts cab extra fenders and bed sides . 3 235 engines only one runs others are for parts. What would you pay for something like this. I am not selling these I just need as clear a value as possible, I was told to get an expert on chevy trucks to value the parts and you guys and gals are the only ones I trust. Thanks Paul

Trucks in pieces are not worth much unless you have time to wait for individual buyers of the pieces. That could take years.

Guys / Girls what I need for example is if you thought a truck was worth
1500 dollars complete but needed restoring and you saw another one in the same condition but disassembeled what would you pay for it. Paul

using your example if I feel a truck is worth 1500 assembled I would pay around 400 for the do it yourself kit.

Resale value...that's kind of a hard nut to crack! Yahoo isn't in the picture business anymore so with the info you've provided and basing it on what I'd pay for a "rolling frame" with a 5 window cab, good solid cowls and door posts, non-operational engine(s), and all the rest of the body components included, I'd be hard pressed to offer more than $600. bucks.

Now if the engine is in the truck, cranks up, makes oil pressure and is knock free, if some of the brakes are operational, the doors and fenders are in decent shape, there's a salvagable seat, the wiring harness is salvagable, running boards, bumpers, brackets included, the transmission goes into gear and the truck moves under it's own power I'd double the $600. ($1200.)

Taking it one step further, if you have some history on the engine; recent rebuilt, runs (fairly) smooth, smooth clutch operation and shifts, good brakes, coolant in the radiator and gauges that work, doors, fenders, hood with a minimum of filler obvious and running boards hung, box bolted in place and a clear title I'd go $2k.

Next step would be minimal body work needed, open driveshaft, 56 or newer 235, OD transmission, decent interior, bed floor intact, decent tailgate, all body parts installed, decent driver with no major handling problems at 55 mph I'd go $3500 and up.

Having recently restored 2 trucks you know that it's easy to drop $8-10K into parts and that doesn't even touch the thousand plus hours of labor you've expended. If your truck fits one of the latter categories, it's going to be up to you to set the value. In reality, no one knows any more about what you've got than you!

I'm certainly no expert on truck values but I do know what I have in my restoration and what I paid for my core vehicle. With a little more information and some pictures I'm sure the guys can share some additional insights.

"Value is in the eyes of the beholder". That's a Shakespeare/BIG CHEVY 3600 quote. The thing is, you have several answers and all are correct. Here is another proposition - if I were to want to do a frame off restore of a '52' 5 window and make it a street rod with V8 and the one you have would fit the bill, with not too much rust repair, I'd pay up to $3000,00 and thank you for the disassemble job. I would, however be looking closely at that dash work needed.
That should do it! You have estimates from 200.00 to 3,000.00, pick the one you like and run with it.

There's also a regional factor. In our part of the country drivable trucks are probably worth more than one in comparable condition out west, but a truck in pieces has almost no value if you try to sell it as is. Reason... there are a lot of people in this area with discretionary funds that would buy a nice running truck, but very few people around here inclined to build one.

Using Fla54's specs, his $2k driver vehicle would sell for 3 to 4x that price in the Triangle, Triad or Charlotte area.

If you are looking for a value for insurance, go high.

If the metal is in real good shape and you find a guy WANTING a 5 window I think $2500 is a good price for all the package deal. If the metal is good he will save that much on body work. If metal is bad then $750 tops. Because all the stuff you mentioned still has to be fixed.

Just paid $500 for the same deal about a month ago!
