Pleeeease don’t throw me out of here Charlie or woo, I’ve had this quest posted in the radio forum but you know not many guys browse that forum and this is “directly related to the care, restoration, preservation or use of old GM trucks!”.
Desperately searching for a digital picture of the “model/tube compliment/patent pending paper label” for an AD original AM radio. It may be on the side where the wires enter the chassis on the slant back or inside the back cover on the straight back ones. Just a picture guys!
Thanks Santa,

Denny I stuffed my fat head under the dash and couldnt see a label. You say there could be a label inside? Mine is the straight backed case. Ill pull it if it could be of help but Id like to make sure I understand correctly first.

Yes Jeff, it should be inside the back cover on the straight-backed radios. There are two screws at the bottom then it swings out and the top has two bumps in the case that the back hooks over. I know it's a pain in the arss and I wouldn't ask my best friend to do it if it weren’t for the fact that I'm one of those darn perfectionists and want to add the finishing touch to the restoration of these two radios I have on the bench. I would really appreciate it if you found the ambition to check that. I need a high-resolution picture so I can read the tiny text. It's down about 1pt or 2pt in size.

I'll shoot an email off to Ray, but I have tried contacting the VCCA tech advisors on several occasions and never got any replies back. I joined about a year ago but that didn't seem to make any difference.

Denny, I understand I have been a member for about 12 years and I still get the feeling that some of the tech advisors seem to not want to part with alot of the info that they have. Best of luck.

Denny: I took the cover off my radio in Ol Yeller. ('52 3100)The paper says: Pontiac Model 984570. I will get a photo posted here in a minute, if in fact this is the piece you want. It has a schematic of the tubes and their cooresponding numbers and about a million patent numbers. Is this what you want?

Yes Mitch, the patent numbers are in all likely hood the same for this model chassis as for the Chevy, GMC, Olds. Usually all that is changed is the location and style of the dial mechanism and the part numbers.
If you could attach a high resolution close-up picture of the label I'd appreciate it. And thanks for going to all this trouble, I know it's a bit much for a lot of people but it is the finishing touch on a high quality restoration in my opinion.
I’ve already got the label roughed out in Illustrator from the following tip that Scott gave me for one that was an ebay radio. It had a picture of a Chevy 986443 label but it's to blurry to make out the fine print like the patent numbers. Finding the correct fonts is the biggest headache when reproducing one of these labels. I’ve done many many of them for the table radios that I have restored.
Thanks again,

Ya ever drivin a Pitts???

OK, now that you have what you need, I'm moving it to the Radio forum for future reference. How about posting a link to the finished product?

That’s peachy Charlie, thanks for leaving it up, it helped a bunch.
That be Denny Peter, Danny's my brother, remember, I'm that bloody perfectionist.
They’re not finished yet, they have to be treated to keep the ink from running when I apply them with the mucilage glue, but this should give ya all an idea of what’s involved when you obsess over something: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2458332170098611668XjCxij

Oh those little details!!!!

Its those little details that need to be kept from being forgotten! Its so much more work to restore then it is to change, upgrade. etc. Im not as anal about it as you are but I can sure appreciate the time involved.

Glad you found what your looking for and good luck!

Jeff
