on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 34 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 34 | I have a 1965 chevy pickup and i would like to switch it out to power steering. I like to drive the truck but it would sure make it easier to drive with power steering. I was just wondering what I would need to do and if it was worth it.

Find a doner truck with power steering and salvage all the necessary parts. Buy an aftermarket kit or subframe with a camreo, nova, monte carlo, etc. All but the subframe are just parts swaping and not too big a deal. Good luck with your project.

You will need to get a Rez kit to mount the box off the frame. The later trucks have a dimple in the frame for the box the Rez kit solves that and it is available most of parts dealers in the links here. If you have a six life gets a little more difficult finding brackets to mount the pump. If you have a v8, it's just a matter of finding brackets to line every thing up. Some of the later stuff is metric, there are work around.

I will let you know what i find. And i do have a inline six. So i figured it might be a little harder. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 | I've seen the brackets for the 292 six go for as much as $200 on that auction site. The 292 has a taller block and the PS was not as common on them. Get all the pulleys, including water pump. Brackets were also made for the integral and don't fit the earlier heads. Best of luck in your search.
