IM wondering if anyone knows is it a good idea to swap the gear cluster from one rearend to another...I cant get parts intime for sat but I do have a parts rearend thats the same...ie:swap used cluster from one to another and if I can anything I should know first?...? smile

Hy ambear, are we talking about swapping a whole differential assembly, or swapping just the gears?

Was guna do the whole dif but I just finished swaping the gear cluster....thnx anyway

If you swapped the center section of a 55-64 axle with the bolt-in center, no sweat. If you changed the ring & pinion of an integral-carrier axle, good luck! There's about a 1 in 1,000 chance of hitting all the clearances, bearing preloads, and tooth contact patterns right on the first try.

I only swapped the cluster and it was out of my 68 ..exact same rear end...only diff is the new cluster I put in the 65 is posi all done and she drives great..thnx smile
