For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 | I finished my metal bed floor install on Ol Yeller. It took 15 days from finding a donor bed to completion. I really like the look and functionality. (Apologies to the wood bed purists). The donor bed floor came from a '77 dually. This is the first time I have cut metal (without explosives). Looks like a factory job, and my compliment has nothing whatsoever to do with your stated explosives experience. I don't think I've welcomed you to the board, so here it is. 1951 3800 Be the change you want to see. -hotshoe

Did you remove the entire bed(sides, ends) or just raise it for the install. And that certainly beats just laying a piece of steel over any rotten wood like so many do.

This is my first old truck experience and my wife thinks that we should start another even though this one is still a work in progress. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 | Drew: Thanks for the positive feed back. I had to replace the front bed panel and sill as it was rusted through. I removed only the left side and fender as a unit. I had to tilt the new floor to slide under the ell brace on the right side. All the original cross sills remain in place, in case I decide to return to the wood bed. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 52 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 52 | nice clean job good work...I still like my wood bed incase i break down in the middle of no where i can scrounge up some grubs to eat...:) | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 120 | I live in the desert. Too fancy for Ol Yeller. But on a tricked truck it might look good with other bling. | | |
