This is the classic sign of a leaking heater core. I would check the hose connections where they attach to the core..sometimes they will drip down inside and mimic a blown core, but again, it is usually bad news.
Has anything leaked out of the heater compartment onto the carpet or mats?

You can try some stop leak for a temporary fix but be aware that if your radiator passageways are partially plugged now, adding stop leak can finish the job.
