on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 67 | Can some one please help me find out what my engine is. It is in a 1 ton 1947 first series. The casting number right behind the distrubuter is T2188C1 the C could be a 6. The numbers are not in a real straight line as on other motors. I have tried looking around through codes on other sites and here but have not found on with the number. This may not be the orginal motor I dont know. I was told it was a 261 but that it had babbit bearings. The engine only has about 15 psi of oil pressure so I thought it was a 235. Please any help would be great. Thanks Matthew

Casting numbers are raised numbers, not stamped into the block, if you could find some casting numbers on the block and the head we could probably help you to identify what engine you have, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 | Also look on the pan just under the distributor, if it's a 235 it could have '235' stamped into the side of the pan. But the casting numbers are the best to i.d. the motor. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 67 | Thanks so much guys will look for casting numbers
