is there a specific procedure for filling and bleeding the brake system on my 52 3/4 ton. i know that the one line goes directly to the driverside front drum and then the other line splits and one goes to the passenger side front drum and also goes to the rear and splits to the rear drums. thanks

You start the bleeding at the wheel cylinder the furthest away from the master cylinder and progress to the next furthest-away wheel cylinder, etc, until you bleed the closest wheel cylinder last. Make sure you keep the master cylinder full of fluid.

If you do not have two people available to bleed the lines, you might want to obtain one of these inexpensive bleeder kits. It is simple to use and it keeps air from going back into the wheel cylinders.

I have used them and they work fine. Autozone used to have a discontinued brand in their bargain bin (Motormite 12701 - 2 pack for about $10.00, 3/8"x24 thread).

I would suggest you give your dad the beer after he helps.

I made a great pressure bleeder from a small garden sprayer. You'll need a spare master cyl cap, drill a hole for a hose fitting, connect to pressure unit (pressure sprayer needs a small pressure gauge mounted near the top). Fill the sprayer about half full of brake fluid, pump her up to about 15 psi, go to furthest wheel cyl, open till you get clean fluid, no bubbles, and go the the next, etc. This deal is MUCH better than sliced bread, especially if you're doing this job alone.

Then you'll have plenty of time to buy Dad a beer.

you can fill the system and crack the bleeders at all 4 corners to gravity bleed them.slow but works fine. the speed bleeders work very well.

Ill say it again, nothing easier then speed bleeders. Crack them open 1/2 a turn and pump the brakes. When your satisifed close the bleeders and your all set. Well worth the tiny amount of money youll spend on them.

I got Speedbleeders on both my rides.
Makes annual bleeding sure and easy.

I originally tried to bleed my brakes with a mighty vac, but the valves are so full of rust that I couldn't get any suction. My speedbleeders should arrive on Wednesday. I can't wait.

thanks for the replies, very helpful, i will take a look at the speedbleeders but i might just save the amount spent on them, ask my dad for some assistance and buy him a case of beer.

anyone know what size speed bleeders i need for my truck. the front is stock but i will have to see what the rear is as it is out of a chevy nova.
